Lights, Camera - ACTION!

Luckily I managed to get hold of a model for todays shoot - was thinking i'd have to to it and I wont lie and say the thought didnt enter my mind of running far far away!

On the whole I think it went pretty well, we were in the studio for a good few hours trying out different lighting techniques, background colours and positions. Managed to get hold of a snowboard for the shoot aswell which was awesome. It was quite strange seeing everything looking so professional and looking at Daisy (the model) and thinking that they were MY clothes that I hade made and they were being photographed.

Its quite frustrating not knowing how the photos have turned out yet, the photographer said he wanted to edit them first so i'll just have to be patient and wait and see!

Snap Happy.... almost!

We had this meeting in class today and got paired up with people on the Press Photography course to do a photoshoot of our work. Ended up with mine being tomorrow and I dont have a model yet eeeek!! Some fast work needs to be done!

The photoshoot is going to be of my snow project - I made a snowboard jacket and a pompom beanie weeee! Luckily I already have all the props I need down here, just need to miraculously find a snowboard!

I would ideally like to do a location photoshoot but ive had to resort to just using a studio seeing as Falmouth has no snow right now, or ever infact! And I just dont think it would look right if the background was grass or rocks or sand.

I hope it turns out alright - only time will tell!

A Couple Of Close Shaves And A Dude

So im still researching - I cant get enough of it! And im thinking I really should have stopped last week and started designing instead, and so yet again im probably going to end up being behind and have to rush the making whoopsy-daisys! I havnt even got round to buying a sketchbook yet so theres just this enormous pile of papers sitting here staring at me waiting to be stuck in place, and boy is that going to cut a chunk out of my life!

For all of those who are wondering, I managed to battle through the shark picture dilema! well there were a few close shaves but I felt better hiding behind my hand and peeking through the cracks in my fingers to check the coast was clear. Although, due to my own stupidity, there were a couple of incidences where I thought I had checked thoroughly but clearly hadnt when a huge pair of jaws came flying out at me!

Note to self: be more careful with what I type in the google search bar...

Anyway while I was researching, i found this really cool guy called Jean-Michel Cousteau who is on a mission to protect our oceans - what a dude!

So im off now to do a little more research on Mr Cousteau before I start considering whether or not to have fish and chips for dindins!

Save Our Seas

So blog number two and I can start off by saying i've actually had quite a productive research day - shockers! Im doing my project on endangered sea animals because its something I feel very strongly about and have spent the day looking into all the contributing factors as to why they could soon become extinct. And while its been a thouroughly productive day, I cant help but feel a tad on the depressed side after looking at all the images - maybe time for icecream?!?

Been trying to work out where the seams on my wetsuit-to-be should go and boy is it mind boggling! I think i'm going to have to have a go in 3d and use a mannequin as my trusty friend!

One of the endangered animals i'm researching is sharks, and for those of you who know me you'll know how much i'm going to have to work myself up to look for images on the internet. So tomorrow could be very interesting!! eeeeek!
